Courses
Crowned summer psychology school classes are a lively, interactive and dynamic way to study psychology. The programme will run 5 sessions and workshops throughout the week.
The course programme is designed to be an introduction of the major theoretical perspectives which form the foundation of a psychosocial approach to understanding people.
Foundation in Psychology
Philosophical assumptions, conceptual problems and areas of controversy within and between theories will be discussed. The potential application of the theories to a range of personal and social problems is presented.
Cognitive psychology
This module allows the students to examine the theoretical and empirical work in the field of cognitive psychology. It aims to provide a strong basic grounding in key areas such as perception, memory, language, concepts, thinking, learning and problem solving.
The topics covered within the summer psychology school will enable students to investigate theoretical and empirical findings in cognitive psychology. It aims to provide an in depth knowledge and understanding of the implications and applications of Cognitive Psychology research.
Research, Experiments and Results
Students are introduced to the necessary principles and shown the importance of research methods in psychology. The students will be expected to think about the meaning of research and the philosophical underpinnings of scientific method and approach involved. There will be classes taught on how to use and evaluate some common research techniques and to produce properly organised practical reports.
